The early stages of the creative and design process are always the most interesting. This is a project at its most fluid and organic, which allows the artistic attributes, if any, to become more apparent, and often great designs emerge from these early conceptions. There is certainly a formulaic, paint-by-numbers approach that can be employed in any design process, but it has been my experience that exceptional work is the result of the creative process rather than a production process. Once the design and creative vision is in place, production then becomes important in realizing that vision within the parameters that make it the most useful to the task. When the project is relatively straightforward, it can seem that the creative process is more difficult. But I find that the more straightforward the project, the more opportunity to do exceptional work that exceeds the expectations of the client.

This phase of the project was particularly well-timed to coincide with work I am doing in the math education field. This opportunity affords me the ability to initiate a research study while working on a product for a client for our class assignment, and Dr. Clinton has been very helpful with this part of the project.
