I have many products currently in various states of development. Originally I selected a smaller of these to feature for this class, a module on the C major scale to use as part of a larger product for guitar students learning basic theory.

Recent events inspired me to change the topic of my design project. I will be designing an instructional module to teach people about a particular form of pediatric cancer that is currently affecting me and people I care about. The experience has left me more informed and therefore armed to enlist my creative and design skills to do something useful. Designing this product will be somewhat therapeutic and cathartic at a very difficult time, and will enable me to do something purposeful, which comes most naturally with the abilities I have.

I will, of course, be using a number of design and development tools. At this point have composed the initial parts of the design in Storyline3, however I will be producing original content with other applications. Some of this will be featured in the next desk crit.

From our course materials, I can say, as I am working on this new project, that the Patrick Parrish article definitely resonates with me. Especially with a product like the one I am working on now, the ability to structure the design around an empathetic consciousness is absolutely essential. As a musician and designer, that is always central to the artistic ethos of the work I do. It is definitely important to me now as I am engaging in such an important topic.
