As an introduction activity to this project, the teacher will divide the class into two groups based on a simple show-of-hands response to this question, “Could some of the events in The Odyssey have actually happened?” The students will have an opportunity to discuss and debate whether or not these fantastic events could be based on real events and phenomena, and will do research to support their ideas.

There will be an opportunity to use a number of affordances in the application of a resource-rich learning experience.
